The 5080 is a better card but only if you know you can get one.

I have an offer for 1300$ for my 7900xtx or 1100 after fees. Should I take it and buy a fe 5080?

Chinese New Year ended. So in two weeks we might finally get somewhat decent drops.

@mrainy - agree! Going from 3080ti, this seems like a good value (once making peace with paying big money for an expensive hobby).

We are dealing with very small numbers for the demand

The drop yesterday had a volume of supply below or around 100 for the 5090 fe

@66_slop_eate... Best Buy had no more than a few hundred cards available on launch day.

TBH, I think the price is reasonable. Especially after I paid $20 for a small bowl of noodle soul. According to the CPI calculator, $1000 in 2018 is $1300 in 2025. The problem is the production.

I bet they’re dropping thousands of cards at once and there’s just a lot of interest. Not everything is a fraudulent “paper launch.” PC gaming has become very popular, and NVIDIA makes really good cards. That’s why it’s hard to get a shiny new 5080. With each drop, less people are looking for a card. It will get easier as the drops come and go.
